Africa

Match report
It was great finally getting started with the Spring Season. We started out the hard way against Africa. We knew it would be a tough match, especially considering only 11 players turned up for the game.
It was also our first chance to see if the team was ready and how strong we would be in the spring after loss of a few key players, but also the arrival of some new star players.

We had a rough start with only 11 players, and a few players showing up late, but when the game started it was a concentrated team entering the pitch

Our goal was to keep the quick and skillful African players away from our goal, and at the same time try to when having the ball show patience, and control, so we can could the ball on our feet as much as possible, and try to avoid giving away dangerous break-aways.
We succeed with our plan, and we even created a few good opportunities, due to patience of waiting for the chance, and moving the ball width.

Africa got to some chances in the first half, but due to a heroic effort by our defense and goalie, we kept them away from scoring until 5 minutes before the half time tea. They scored on a powerful strike from the edge of the penalty box.

We also during the first half had a few chances; especially Maldini had a good finish in the beginning of the game.

We came out to the second half with the same spirit as we ended the second half, even the players were getting tired everybody kept fighting. It seemed as the Africans also got tired, or took a little easier, so we got more room to combine in the middle of the pitch, but on the attack, they were constantly dangerous.

We did create a few chances, but not enough to score the equalizer.

The final score was 1-0

The team consisted of
Mew Yeu – Goalie
Stian – Captain
Oscar
Liu Jiabo
Haolong
Farlige Frank
Jeppe Vestas
Simo
Nathan
Maldini
Dawang – as target man on top

Key performances by
Goalie – a lot of key saves in his first game. We hope to see him again
Stian – fantastic fight. He led the team as our captain
Haolong – great effort in defense and in supporting the mid field
Jeppe – 1st game. Strong presence in the midfield. A lot of movement, and setting the tone. MOM
Maldini – first game, and in an unaccustomed position as offensive mid. Hard work, and involved in a lot of the chances.
Farlige Frank – as always a solid performance from Frank – both in defense and offense.

But the whole team played a great game.

I think this was a really good start to the Spring Season, and if we can keep it up, we will take a lot of points during the upcoming games

See you Saturday
